Stroke Telemedicine Brings Life-saving Expertise to Rural Communities
The Swedish Stroke Telemedicine Program, which was created with donor funds contributed to Swedish Medical Center Foundation, has shown steady growth since its founding. This electronic network now links stroke experts at the Swedish Stoke Program with Swedish’s Ballard and Issaquah Emergency Departments. In December, two non-Swedish hospitals, Mount Vernon’s Skagit Valley Hospital and Jefferson Healthcare in Port Angeles, were added to the program.
Gossman Gift Establishes World-Class Training Center
Thanks to gifts totaling more than $2.4M—including a $1M lead gift from Cheryl and Bill Gossman—Swedish established the Gossman Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Simulation that will train clinicians in a flight simulation environment, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our newborns and infants.
Philanthropy Helps Swedish Recruit Leading Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgeon
Donations totaling almost $2 million help Swedish create the Surgical Robotics program with the recruitment of Dr. James Porter, a fellowship for trainees and the acquisition of the da Vinci® surgical system for minimally-invasive prostatectomies.
