Advantages For Our Patients

Cancer is enough of a trauma. Being treated for it shouldn’t make matters worse.

At the True Family Women’s Cancer Center, patients and their families will discover a number of things to ease their difficult journey. Leading the list is a dedicated staff of nurse navigators and care coordinators who work with patients throughout their treatment to answer questions and help them find the best resource at Swedish to care for them.

Since knowledge is a powerful antidote to worry, the center will also be equipped with a comprehensive library and resource center where patients can learn about their treatment and what to expect.

Finally — and it’s no small thing — the convenience of the center and the comforting, calming surroundings will all be designed to reduce a patient’s stress. This is more than furniture and fabric. Psychologists, social workers, naturopathic treatment experts, massage therapists, and dietary counselors are all part of this holistic approach to curing and coping with cancer.

Make an on-line gift

Because cancer is like no other disease.

Imagine the case of a woman — a former smoker — who couldn’t convince her husband to quit. Then, at 44, she finds out she has lung cancer. The True Family Women’s Cancer Center is especially well equipped to deal with her disease, both medically and emotionally. Our oncology social workers can counsel the patient to help her overcome the stigma of having lung cancer; her husband, to help him cope with the guilt of feeling he may have contributed to her cancer; and their son, who naturally worries about his mom’s recovery.
