Don Theophilus

Executive Director, Vice President of Development

Donald R. Theophilus III is executive director of the Swedish Medical Center Foundation and Swedish's vice president of development.
Don earned his bachelor of arts degree in business administration with honors from the University of Puget Sound and a law degree from the University of Washington.
Before coming to Swedish, he served as vice president for Corporate and Foundation Relations at the University of Colorado Foundation. After practicing law in Seattle, Don began his development career in 1993 at the University of Washington and moved to the University of Michigan in 1995, where he worked in Corporate and Foundation Relations before moving to Colorado in 2000.
 

 
Maggie Angle

Senior Director of Events & Auxiliaries

Maggie Angle is the director of events & auxiliaries for the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. In this role, Maggie oversees all of Swedish’s fundraising events, including the annual fundraising auction, Celebrate Swedish, as well as the Women’s Wellness Luncheon, Swedish SummeRun, and Seattle Brain Cancer Walk. She works closely with several volunteer committees as well as the gift shop staff and volunteer auxiliary groups.

Maggie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her master’s degree from Harvard University. A Seattle native, Maggie has more than twelve years of event-planning and communications experience with non-profit organizations.

Jane Becker Nelson

Founders Circle Manager

Jane Becker Nelson manages the Founders Circle at the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. In this role, Jane works with donors who contribute $10,000 or more annually to match their interests with service lines across the institution. Additionally, she oversees the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk benefiting the Ben and Catherine Ivy Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment.
 
Jane earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She comes to Swedish with five years of experience in arts management.

Gwen Colwell

Annual Giving Manager

Gwen Colwell is the annual giving manager for the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. In this role, Gwen is responsible for overseeing the Summit Club as well as assisting donors to Swedish Medical Center Annual Fund. Gwen earned her bachelor's degree from Pacific Lutheran University. She then began her Peace Corps service in Benin, West Africa as a Rural Health Educator working on HIV/AIDS prevention and education.

Becca Kelly

Senior Director Major Gifts

Becca Kelly is the lead fundraiser for Women and Infants and Pediatric Specialty Care as well as Swedish Cancer Institute, Organ Transplant and Nursing at Swedish. She also manages the major gifts, annual giving and institutional giving teams.

Becca earned her bachelor's degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Becca brings 17 years of development experience to Swedish. She has held leadership positions in annual giving and major gifts at Dickinson College, Duke University and was the director of development at the Seattle Symphony prior to coming to Swedish in 2004.

Randy Mann

Senior Director Campaign

Randy is the lead fundraiser for the Swedish Neuroscience Institute, Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute, Swedish Visiting Nurse Services (Home Care) as well as directing the Planned Giving program. He is also responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for The Campaign for Swedish.

Randy earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University. Randy comes to Swedish with a significant campaign background, which includes a $1 billion campaign for Stanford University, a $500 million campaign for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford School of Medicine, and most recently a $300 million campaign for Children's Hospital in Seattle.

Jennifer T. Nolte

Stewardship Manager

Jennifer T. Nolte is the stewardship manager for the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. In this role Jennifer is responsible for the management of donor services programs like The Bentley Family Donor Lounges and The Stellar Club. She works closely with the director of the Founders Circle and the annual giving manager to implement donor recognition and benefit delivery for all gift club levels.

Jennifer has eight years of event-planning and donor stewardship experience with non-profit organizations. She received her bachelor's degree from Southern Oregon University.

Kate Purcell

Director Corporate Relations

Kate manages and stewards all corporate support for Swedish Medical Center, and is the lead fundraiser for the Swedish Orthopedic Institute and the Ballard Campus.

Kate earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University. She comes to Swedish with a background of building successful partnerships between corporate and nonprofit organizations. As a strategic consultant, she advised pharmaceutical and biotech leaders such as Pfizer, Genentech, and Amgen in the areas of corporate grant making, patient advocate relations, community outreach, and communications.

Lindsay Hopkins

Planned Giving Manager

Lindsay Hopkins is the planned giving manager for Swedish Medical Center Foundation. In this role, Lindsay works with individuals and their professional advisors to create legacy gifts that achieve donors' financial and philanthropic goals. Additionally, Lindsay is the editor of IMPACT magazine, Swedish’s featured publication.
 
Lindsay received her bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Communications from the University of Washington. She then worked in the legal field for four years and obtained her paralegal certification before joining the Foundation in 2007.
